Gears of War 2 Collector's Edition Bundle

Every big game comes out with a collector's edition, a special edition, or something of that variety. Usually I see these as easy money from naive fanboys, but occasionally a game comes out and offers a bonus that is well worth the extra cash. This time it's Gears of War 2, and in this occasion, I am the naive fanboy, err, I mean fangirl. Bonus soundtrack, extra behind the scenes features, and the usual special features that collector's editions commonly come bundled with are not enough to get me to hand over the extra cash...but to a hardcore Gears fan like myself coupled with my obsession of collecting video game toys and figures, the life-size Lancer replica bundled with the Gears of War 2 Collector's Edition is well worth the $139 price tag.

The only way for you to get your hands on one of these Gears 2 Collector's Edition is by pre-ordering it through Amazon.com...or waiting till launch day and finding them for double the price on Ebay. The Lancer replica will come with a removable ammo clip, and will even make the chainsaw sound when you pull the trigger. This badass is made by NECA, the same guys who make the Gears of War action figures, so you know it's gonna be good quality.

Still not good enough for ya? Well for only $10 more dollars (heck, why not?) you can upgrade the version of the game you will get in your GOW 2 Collector's Edition from regular GOW 2 to the Limited Edition. This is any Gears fans dream come true, I know I got giddy as soon as I heard the news!

I have to admit the lancer looks pretty cool, but I can't justify paying $139 for this package. I really just want the game, I don't know what I would do with this lancer, and I NEVER pay extra for these collector's editions. I always ask myself 'would I pay $79 for these extras by themselves?' Absolutely not in all cases, but that's basically what happens when you buy the package. But hey, that's just me. It's cool that it's offered for the people who want it.

i might get gow2 or just rent it, i like gow but not that much i reckon I'll finish on hardest pretty quickly

i dont think its worth it at all. i just want the game. i think games are priced to high to begin with. u will never catch me paying more than 65.01 for a videogame.

That Lancer would look awesome on my living room wall. SOLD. I got to see it in person @ SDCC. It was mine right after that.

Actually its worse than it looks. After looking at the amazon site, the $139 is actually for just the lancer. If you buy it with the limited edition gears it is $209.98!

@ Ladyluck: Actually you DO get the game with the Lancer Bundle for $139. This is taken directly from Amazon, "Pre-order the Amazon.com Exclusive Lancer and get the Standard Edition of Gears of War 2 free or upgrade your order to the Limited Edition for an extra $10."

What's the diff between the upgrade to limited edition that justifies the extra $10? OK the regular is $60...the limited is $70 and comes with the usual bonus content and the Collectors comes with the lancer, but with the regular edition of the game o.O Is that how it is? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't want to buy the wrong version...
