Gears of War 2 Update

Aug. 17 6:00 AM by Ladyluck

Recently it has been announced that Gears of War 2 will reach a wider audience. Developers have added the option of 2 filters to the game to change the Mature rating. These filters will take out the intense language and strong violence. With just a click of a button, you will change the blood in the game to sparks. While the language filter will take out all the swear words. It is all up to you, but parents will still need to decide, if even without the blood, is chainsawing an alien in half ok?

i guess thats cool to try to sell more copies but it should not be an option. it still will be pretty violent and mature with out all that stuff.

its not really meant to be a game for the kiddies and this filter is quite pointless btw this update is sorta outdated since i think its been a while of this news but i guess you were just raising the topic.
you might use it if your sick of the characters constant manliness or MACHO-ness "i wanna be a macho, macho man ow ah...etc"

he he, i remeber one day i was playing Mortal Kombat without the blood, it felt weird.
I think is a cool idea for younger audiences, but definitely not for kids.

lame just like the 360 timer with lame parents for me it was always blood and gore 1 part of a games awesomess i luv it!

THIS IS A GREAT OPTION SO KIDS CAN PLAY BUT PARENTS THAT DON'T WANT THEIR KIDS PLAYING THIS GAME SHOULD ALWAYS LOOK THE RATING.

=/ to much gears news

yeah thats good for the kids so now mom and dad cant say no because of bad words or to much blood we can all play little kids come get some

If I were a game illiterate parent, this still wouldn't change the fact that the game comes with a replica of a weapon.

To me, adding the parental filters shouldn't change the rating. Knowingly, these filters will be "off" by default, thus keeping the game at the "M" rating.

I don't really see this as a move to get the games into the hands of kids. I think it's more on par to try and get the game approved in other countries. I remember reading an article when the game was announced that Britain may not allow the game due to excess violence. So with a filter in place for us it would be just as easy to market the game with the filter constantly on for the over seas market where the ratings are more strict.

im sorry but this takes away from what makes Gears great and appealing. i shit on whoever thought this was a great idea. hell, Epic shoulda just made a T version and called it a day

Look, the more appeal you can make to different gamers and their parents means the more cash you'll get in the end.

Having it as an option is perfect, and why people are complaining about it is beyond me - it's like complaining about playing a game without music because it makes the game less compelling, because there are options to turn it off - options!

Get real people, it's not a bad thing, I honestly think it's a great step in putting responsibility for this stuff where it belongs - on the parent!

It's a good feature for the young kids...... But I will be playing in all its BLOODY GLORY!!!!

WOW u sound like a pussy right now. do u HONESTLY think kids are going to filter it? fuck no. if their not stupid they wont. ppl underestimate kids. as soon as a rent isnt around, thell go back to the full game. it woulda made more sense just to make a separate T rated version.

@sonyboy69

i think they should just sell the game they are selling. a violent action 3rd person shooter that is for the mature gamers out there.
