God of War and PS3 fans alike are geeked at the trailer of the latest installment of the series set to be released in March 2009 (according to most recent reports). With more than 6 months to go before the release, the YouTube hits alone on the trailers for the game have been extremely popular for the last few weeks.
Developers have been tight-lipped on exactly what will happen with the game except to state that they will be using many of the PS3 capabilities to their fullest capacity. The game will run at full HD resolution (1080p) and will incorporate the use of the various functions available with the controllers. They have even hinted at the possibility of adding in a cooperative mode. Whatever they come up with, this is yet another reason to own the PS3.
In addition to the news of the game, the rumors and reports surrounding the movie have been swirling around as well. The film adaptation has been planned since the release of the first game in 2005 but only now is it coming to fruition. Latest reports have Brett Ratner, director of XMen: The Last Stand and the Rush Hour series, confirmed as the director. This may be bad news for some. As a huge X-Men fan, the worst in the series was the third installment, the one Mr. Ratner directed. While Rush Hour has been, for the most part, enjoyable, it is completely different genre from that of God of War and I am more than a bit concerned. Ratner's other claim to fame...music videos. On a positive note, he is a step up from the infamous Uwe Boll who allegedly wanted the film. [Scary thought!] Hopefully when he says, "In the end, there will be only chaos!" he didn't mean with the movie.
While I am not completely sold on the Brett Ratner angle, I am in love with the Djimon Honsou idea. Allegedly in talks to play Kratos in the movie is Djimon Honsou. David Jaffe himself, creator of the series, is in favor of Honsou getting the part due to his overall look and build. Honsou is also one hell of an actor whose film credits include Amistad, Gladiator, Blood Diamond, Eragon and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, just to name a few. Honsou has the ability to channel a character and give a role a believability factor unlike most actors today. So far the movie does not have a release date but I am certain to keep everyone updated.

Yeah I like him a an actor, he doesn't get much recognition like he should
is a good day to be a ps3 owner, nice. As for the movie it would be awesome, i hope they dont screw it up. nice blog Nuyo.
ugh... this and the possibility of KH3 are the ONLY reasons i ever wanted a PS3.... i hate it when they force me into buying there console to play their game... yeah i know, every company does it and its how they make console sales... but still... i dont wanna drop 460 for 1 game...
can't wait
@diablo2lod: I hear ya but what must be done, must be done. But there are others and there will be more... I am actually stoked about Little Big Planet too - I know, I know, I would.

I have a friend who worked a lot on the environments graphic design for this game...he did Gears of War too! So, yeah, just wanted to give him a shout out! :)
god of war's the best. it's crazy how david jaffe just thought it up.
Djimon Honsou is one sexy man and I absolutely love all of his movies. I am bad..I haven't played God Of War...some idiot rented it and returned it all scratched to hell in back..same with God Of War II..I need to find them to buy!!
I could honestly see him playing Kratos or Black Panther from Marvel comics, but yah I can't wait for this damn game.
Movies adaptations of games have, for the most part, sucked. Hopefully that will be changing soon, especially with this one. Resident Evil was a let down, don't let this one be too!
Also, I'm in agreement about Hansou as well. He even has a great voice for it.
I agree that Hansou is a great actor and will rpobably nail both roles, I still think Michael Jai White is born to play King T'Challa. Anyway, I will buy the game and see the movie either way.
@Earthshaker86: You are right about video game movies but the comic book adaptations are getting strong (i.e. Ironman, Hulk, and Batman) so there is hope.

@Miz_Calamity: I'm hoping they put GOW1 & 2 on the PSN. I'm guilty of not playing them, then. Even tho' the setting of the game is my favorite type.
