The GameGirls respond to the question individually. This week's email comes from Brad, who's girlfriend said to him: I thought you said you were good (at Halo 3). You fucking suck!"
Question from Brad:
Hi,
My new girlfriend keeps kicking my ass in Halo 3. I know this might sound like an insincere email but it isn't. I didn't talk myself up, but I guess I told her I was pretty good in Halo 3. Normally, I wouldn't care if she was better than me at Halo 3. It's not like "oh, I'm the guy so I have to always win" or nothing like that. What happens is I don't even enjoy playing with her as much because she's been rubbing my face in it. When we hung out last weekend she said "I thought you said you were good. You fucking suck." I almost don't want to play with her anymore because she pisses me off.
What should I do?

I don't really think it's the girlfriend issue that's bothering you. I think you're just being a normal person who doesn't like getting beat. Look at it this way, it's normal for someone who wins to get cocky and rub it in. She probably just feels that you'll except her more if she trash talks like most guys do. Don't take it personally that she beats you. Try playing a different game, or avoid games all together if that seems to be an issue for you. Because what would you be saying if you beat her? You'd be rubbing it in too.

Chances are that your girlfriend is saying that in a joking manner. I tease my friends like that all the time, but I don't really mean it and they know that. Is the problem that she rubs it in your face, or is the problem that she's a girl who's rubbing it in your face? Guys act that way all the time and most of them just laugh it off or throw another insult at the person saying that. Obviously I don't know your gaming experience with other guys, so of course your experiences may be different. And I don't recommend you insulting your girlfriend back either (unless she knows you're kidding.)
Here's my advice: If you beat her, make sure you're a gracious winner yourself. Since you don't like having things rubbed in your face, don't try to get back at her, say something like "good game!" or whatever. Maybe she'll change her attitude after you do that a couple of times. If that doesn't work, or if you don't get an opportunity to do that... just let her know that you don't have fun when she's in your face like that. How is she supposed to know you're not enjoying yourself if you don't tell her? I'm pretty sure she'll back off once you do. I know I would, personally.

Brad, sounds like your girl has a serious ego... and most girls do when it comes to something competitive. Some girls enjoy rubbing it in guy's faces and I can totally understand that but at the same time when it is someone you are in a relationship with there are boundaries that you should have when it comes to the trash talking. Me and my boyfriend used to play Halo 2 together all the time. Now and again, I would beat him, but when I did I would give him some advice on what he could do to prevent losing to someone doing the same things I did. With Halo 3, honestly, who could talk shit? I'm sorry but the game has only been out for a week and more than likely they will put up patches for it and then your girl will lose... then of course she will say "It was lag" or "You just got lucky". But enough with my rambling, my point on this whole thing is that maybe you should have a talk with her and ask if she could chill on the trash talking a bit. If she doesn't, then maybe you should play with some friends for a while get some good strategies together and then kick her ass. (of course DO NOT trash talk to her -- you will get put in the dog house). Just show her that you aren't as bad as she thinks you are. That's the best revenge.

I know when I rub people's faces in my victory, it isn't out of me being mean or anything. It honestly is just about me being in shock that I won. So if she is anything like me, she will stop rubbing it in, fairly soon. If it continues, then, unless it really bothers you, suck it up. You have a girlfriend who wants to play Halo with you, be happy! Play it off like you let her win. OR Stop sucking at Halo.

I didn't get my response in soon enough, but yes I agree with Nikole, I think she is just bragging b/c she is actually surprised that she did win...this will end with time. So just wait it out, and yes, if it does continue then you should be damn proud your girlfriend not only wants to play Halo but is apparently good at it too.

"Brad", this is what happens when you have only previously played competitive games against your mother (who's apparently been throwing all the games to make you think you're "pretty good" when you really suck ass). Guys trashtalk each other all the time. It's no big deal, unless that it's coming from a girl is what's really bugging you. Either grow thicker skin or go find a more comfortable maxi for yourself. If you must go on and hide mini-Brad between your legs, go ahead and praise your girlfriend so that she thinks she's like a super Halo god or something. That way, you can still continue to claim that you're "pretty good" (when we all know you suck more ass than the anti-poison unit tending to a Diarhhea Anonymous meeting held in a pit of cobras) and it's just that your girlfriend is just so godlike (except we all know she's really just average).

I thought the highly researched finding - that all gamer girls hate all other gamer girls - to be very accurate and insightful. I'm absolutely 100% positively sure you girls are secretly pummelling each other with pillows and pulling each others' hair and stuff behind the scenes, and don't try to convince me otherwise. My question is: what do you all think of Jessica Chobot? Is she good for building female gaming, is she gaming's Paris Hilton, or what? I don't hate other girl gamers. Whenever girls hate other girls its usually cuz they're jealous. and you'll notice that every girl gamer thinks that THEY'RE the BEST girl gamer out there and every other girl isn't good enough. I think a lot of gamer girls can be attention whores (but that's natural) if I've never actually seen them touch a game and all they do is TALK about games, then ya... that kinda irritates me. But I still think they're cool for atleast being cool with games. I hate girls who are too stuck up and brain dead to even try games. I suck at Halo and I'm upfront about it, wouldn't really be a problem for me. I'd be mad at anyone that beat me at Far Cry though.

serious question, are all the girl gamers in California???? I think iv only met like 3 girls in my area that play games (1 plays madden, 1 plays halo, 1 plays guild wars/guitar hero)

theD, are you directing that to me? if so, i must say i really enjoy it. i got MORE than my moneys worth out of it (got the 60GB model when it was 600$). i use just about every feature in it. i own warhawk (DL from psn), Vegas, resistance and Sigma and each one of them are really fun games. warhawk is especially fun. i played HS, Oblivion, virtua fighter 5, F1, motorstorm, folklore, def jam icon and stranglehold and those are all fun as well (HS ends too fast though :( ). i want to buy folklore, but im kinda broke right now b/c i pretty much just got bioshock (pc) and have money down on Rock Band and Crysis.

I thought Gamestop at least loaned games and systems to its employees so they can speak knowledgably about them to customers? Well, if you need to find a place to get a PS3 for cheap, let me know. You sort of need an invite though.
I'm already going without food and water as it is. lol (I just moved to cali from indiana, living in my own apartment and I'm broke as hell) If better and more games come out for the ps3, I'll try to save up for one, but I just don't see the point right now. and yes.. gamestop USUALLY lets their employees borrow games, but unfortunately... I just got hired to a store that is undergoing... fixing. They had to fire the whole old staff cuz of stupid shit (like they kept stealing) so those privileges have been taken away, which sucks cuz that's one of the only reasons I liked working there >.<
Wow, stealing is definitely a good reason to fire people. I'd put that in my top five reasons to fire a Gamestop employee, along with: smoking crack in the store, shooting customers, shooting fellow staff, and performing dirty acts to the demo consoles and controllers. I hear these are all commonplace in SoCal. P.S., food and water are sooooo overrated.

i just hate smack talk from people that arent even good like if they got 3 kills and 23 deaths and they still talk shit then i get pissed but if its legit ownage then ill congratulate and show some respect btw gamertag is "Evil Jinn" look me up sometime i play halo 3 and Cod4 but cod4 is messed up atm
