I am talking about the Video Games Live Concert. What's that? If you're too lazy to click the link, the site describes this event as "An immersive event created by the game industry featuring the best game music performed by top orchestras and choirs combined with synchronized lighting, video, live action and audience interactivity. The first and most successful video game concert tour in the world."
Now, I read two main city newspapers everyday, as well as two 'urban/underground' papers that BOTH have video game AND music sections. I didn't hear about this concert until last night when I was cruising the Pure Pwnage forums, where someone had made a topic about VGL in Toronto. I then got pretty excited, only to be completely choked when I saw the Calgary shows for Friday and Saturday night were completely sold out! BRUTAL!
I absolutely love orchestra concerts! Classical music is something I enjoy immensely. Now they've gone and done something as awesome as this, and I miss out! This isn't some small thing either! It's playing at one of Calgary's largest, most popular concert halls and by Calgary's most popular orchestra! I bet they'll have some big article on it TOMORROW >< What I really don't understand is how exactly did this slip by me? If the concert is SOLD out, obviously many people had to hear about it and apparently it's been around since 2005. WHY WASN'T I INFORMED????? DO THESE PEOPLE KNOW WHO I AM???? Hahaha! Jk, except not really.

Anyways, bottom line: Pull some Halo 3 sh*t and L2 mass advertise. KTHNX. ...Total BS /endrant

Yes I remember when Nobou Unematsu (Final Fantasy musician) came to Chicago a long while ago. I wanted to go so bad but my lame ass friends did not so I had no one to go with. I missed out on a great opportunity =(.

You're right in your ranting about events not getting as much coverage as they need, but screaming for them to advertise is a harder said than done request. Halo is owned now by microsoft because they bought bungie, and they have a multi-billion dollar advertising budget to work with in which they can do whatever they want. Normal concert venues and performers don't always have a lot of advertising power because of limited budgets, word of mouth is usually how things are hyped.
