Happy 1st Bday Wii!!!!

Nov. 19 3:40 PM by Nikole

I would like to take this opportunity to wish the Nintendo Wii a very Happy 1st Birthday. To date it has sold over 13 million units and is currently owning the next gen competition. The Wii has sold more units in North America than the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 combined in the first half of 2007. The Wii has been topic of many gamer debates on whether or not it should be considered a "next gen" console. The bottom line is that it is the next generation of Nintendo consoles. It has given the gamer a whole new interactive experience. And while it's graphics aren't as life like as the 360 or PStriple, the people have spoken and game play is what counts. And rightfully so. I am very pleased with my Wii, which I have named Wiinie. All you Nintendo/Wii haters can suck it! It is not a fad that so many claimed would go away, one year later Nintendo is going stronger than ever. Nintendo has raised the demographics of gamers to every member of the family. Congrats Nintendo! Best of all: It prints money! My 11-19-06 Chronicles: On November 18, 2006 I awoke bright and early to get in line with my friend Kelly at the local Best Buy. Then my friend Kevin said that there would be a better chance of getting one if I went and waited in line at City Walk. So I made my dad wait in line at Best Buy while my friends and I went to City Walk. I finally got my baby at 5 in the morning! And my dad waited till 7 to get one because he figured he'd waited that long he might as well get it. So we got 2 and sold one, BANK!

Wow. What a year the Nintendo Wii had. So many great titles already: Wii Sports, WarioWare:SM, Super Paper Mario, Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, and so many more to come in 08 like Mario Kart, Brawl, and others.

I stood in line for a good 6-8 hours and the wal-mart i was at changed their story all the time on how many they had.
Well turns out they had 22 and i was #23. I finally got one May or april of this year.

where's the love for the PS3? it turned 1 on saturday.

I love my wii. I slept in front of a EB when they got their shipment. They only got 8 in so I was there from one in the morning on. I had things to make it um more fun :) But still it was rough. It was worth it in the end, and I got Zelda that night, but wii sports ended my most played game for a few months thanks to me having 5 people over at all times.

I didn't get mine on the release day, but the Sunday after the release day. I woke up at 6 and went to get in line at Best Buy at 7. Unfortunately, there were already 40 people standing there and I was the 41st, but they said they only had 40 Wiis to give out. I was going to go home but everyone in line was like "no no, you should stay! Some people might leave." So I stayed (a bunch of people lined up behind me too), and some people did drop off the list. But then the Best Buy man started handing out the vouchers...and some guy wanted his whole family to get a voucher even though they hadn't signed up. So the man ran out of vouchers RIGHT before he got to me. But the BB guy was super nice and he was like "well, we'll try to get you a Wii."

I got extremely lucky. One person with a voucher didn't show up for whatever reason. So I literally got the last Wii!

Got mine on release day, camped out at Wal-Mart from 8pm until opening the next day. They were getting 38 in stock and I was number 23. Pretty simple... almost froze to death but hey

nice wii mote cakes

It's insane. I can't think of any generation of systems where people went through this much hell. Last gen and before when I wanted a console I strolled into any random store and bought it. For a wii you pretty much need a team of nine people stalking stores, sleep in front of buildings, make about 30 phone calls a day, drink Red Bull till your eyes bleed in front of a retailer, or buy one for $400 on e-bay.
Really, you don't buy a wii, you earn one.

Ya, we talked about wii's bday in the podcast I did the other day. Cool stuff :)

what's crazy is... PS3 outsold the Wii in Japan recently. that shit's crazy...

^ That was the first week of their price cut. Things should go back to their normal ass kicking ways again now for the wii.

Kool good read I stood in line for like 4 hours waiting to get the wii the first day lol...got to love hetic days.

zomg what podcast did u do?

this podcast that one of my co-workers does. I just recently joined the team. :) I dunno if they're site's working... but it's for Gamegeist
