Free stuff!!

Microsoft sure has to do a lot of explaining and apologizing. First it was b/c their system was badly developed, then it was b/c their system kept breaking, then it was both b/c their system was badly developed and kept breaking. Then it was because their racing wheel was worthless and didn't work, then it was b/c their wireless headset was junk, and now it's b/c their system keeps breaking and their warranty is bullshit (your new system breaks and you send it in and instead of replacing it with a new one they replace it a used one that was broken as well but they "fixed"), I mean hell even Gamestop won't offer warranties on 360 anymore b/c they were actually loosing money on the deal; I think it was 3 in every 5 sold was brought back defective within a year...that's ridiculous! Anyways, sorry, I didn't mean this to be "I hate Xbox blog", in fact I love my Xbox 360, would be miserable without it, I just hate Microsoft. Well it seems now that the holidays are over Microsoft has a new issue to apologize for; their shitty Live service over the holidays. I am sure many of you tried to play online but it was either the lag was so bad you gave up or you were kicked off of Live every few minutes. Both happened to me. Microsoft puts their tails between their legs and said it was b/c of the increase in users and new people signing up...but it was the holidays; not like they haven't dealt with the season before...they should have been prepared. But alas, for all of our gaming trouble Xbox Live will be offering us all a free Xbox Live Arcade Game! I am so easy to please...offer me a freebie and I am happy. Now I just gotta wonder which game will I choose!!!

Incase you haven't read it, here is the full statement:

Dear Xbox LIVE Members:

During this past holiday season you helped us break a number of Xbox LIVE records. This included our largest sign-up of new members to Xbox LIVE in our 5 year history and just yesterday you broke the record for the single biggest day of concurrent members ever on the service.

As a result of this massive increase in usage we know that some of you experienced intermittent Xbox LIVE issues over the holiday break. While the service was not completely offline at any given time, we are disappointed in our performance. I would like to take this moment to thank you each and every one of you for your patience and understanding as our team has worked around the clock to return the service to a stable state.

At the same time we would like to offer a token of our appreciation to all of you in celebration of record success for the service. And as a thank you for your loyalty during this holiday period, we will be offering all of our Xbox LIVE members around the world access to a full Xbox LIVE Arcade game that will be available to download free of charge. In the coming weeks we will be sharing the specific details of this offer with you.

Thank you again for helping make Xbox LIVE everything that it is today!

Sincerely,

Marc Whitten

What are some of your favorite Arcade Games and which game do you think you will choose to be your free one? Some of my favorites are Bomberman, Carcassonne, Boom Boom Rocket, and Worms. I would love to see them bring some classic board games to the Arcade like Monopoly and Life, I think those would be pretty fun over Live.

me lIkes FREE GAMES...

MS you have some Xplaning to do.....But i'll take a free game!!

Oh yeah. I totally thought this was why I couldn't get on Xbox Live over the holidays, but it was actually because my auto-renewal of my account was rejected because I canceled the credit card my XBL account was on.

Anyway. Cheers to my rant.

free games r ok. . .just make sure u dont do this again, ms. . .

yeah i agree. i like playing my 360, but M$ continues to screw it's customers over. if it weren't for my brother owning a 360, i'd only own a PS3.

the best place to get a 360 now is best buy. they have a product replacement plan that i think i paid an additional 60 bucks for. if my console stops functioning for any reason, i can walk in the store with it and walk out with a brand new one. i think it's valid for 2yrs so i have a little over a yr left. by that time i'd hope M$ will have decreased the faulty rate to like 3%.

M$ does not care about it's customers. if they did, they would've tested the hardware extensively. hell, i bet they already knew about the RRoD. they just wanted to be the first out with a next gen console to up their user base because they knew then faulty hardware wouldn't matter because they'd have so many people with a 360.

bad M$, tisk tisk. if they have similar problems with their next console i will not be one of their customers again.

joydestroy: I could not agree more!
