Wii-Spray

Jun. 14 12:08 AM by Nikole

A student of Bauhaus University named Martin Lihs created a Wii-mote spray can that can spray virtual graffiti on a monitor. WiiSpray.com is already up and running. The site encourages people to explore the world of graffiti, but legally and using your browser. This is just one of many mods people have been creating with the Wii-mote.

The basic idea was to build a computer hardware interface which is similar to an existing analog tool. An new interface will force new experiences. Forget about keyboard and mouse: with WiiSpray we created a new human computing interface (HCI). The use of WiiSpray is similar of using a real spray can but without the colour and the toxic smells. WiiSpray is based on Adobe Flash, a WiiFlashServer and the Nintendo Wii® device. With this techology and a computer supported technology it is possible to move wireless through the space. You don´t need to learn this device - just start spraying intuitively. And the best is, after finishing your graffiti you can upload it to our website and look at it at any time from everywhere.

Do you think a feature like this has any place in the mainstreaming gaming world? Could this ever be in a Wii game?

I don't think it could be a game, but definitely a cool channel. People interested in creating their own designs and images might go for it - I might.

Nice find. :)

Technology is getting better every day (Still waiting for my flying car though) If its a succes im pretty sure that they will develope a game for it (Hope this reduces the graffiti in the city I think is a pretty cool idea :)

Wow! Its a pretty cool. I'm definitely interested in trying this out.

They could make a Mario Paint WiiWare game or channel, including a spray paint feature using something similar to this.. I might check it out

wasnt there a game on xbox where the dude skated around and tagged up walls make a sequel 2 that shit.

I think I could see this in a game where the objective is to graffiti some wall, but unless it was a trick can that had a million other buttons on there except this one it'd be boring. I believe it would be neat to play with a spray paint can, and think that a lot of artists or skeptical people will want try it out. It could be used as a nice art application like "Colors" for the DS.

or i could just use my uber microsoft paint skillz

Haha, Mario Paint anyone?

@ V10lENTJ: Yeah that game was Jet Set Radio or Jet Grind Radio. I forget the exact name. It first came out on Dreamcast though. Anyone else think they need to make a new Crazy Taxi game?
