Blood Bowl Preview

Did you ever think a mixture between World of Warcraft and a football video game would do well? I'm pretty sure if the idea came up a year ago, I wouldn't believe it -- But after finding out a little bit this game and seeing the trailer, my opinion is a little different.

Blood Bowl, a fantasy football video game coming to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PSP, and Nintendo DS appears to be a game to keep your eyes on. This game is an adaption from the board game "Blood Bowl" - for those of you who played the Warhammer table top games, you might have heard of it (It's produced by Warhammers Fantasy Label).

Blood Bowl is a turned based and real-time strategy game, blends the edges between sports and fantasy. From the trailer, below you can see the Human, Chaos and Orc races smash eachothers armor with spine shattering tackles in attempt to intercept the ball.
Each player on your team earns experience the more games they play, so the abilities your vetern players have will be useful to you. Another one of the cool features is the customization of the teams. When you create your team, it won't be like any others and you can show your personal style in the single and multiplayer games. Most of the winnings from the games will go towards buying better equipment, armor and other items including Cheerleaders.

There isn't a whole lot of information on Blood Bowl currently, there isn't even a real release date for it. But I gathered a bit of information, after seeing the teaser, over at GameTrailers, I had to let the readers of GameGirl see.

The idea sounds cool, i like sports a lot. I am the kind of guy that enjoys some beers and watch my team pwning the other teams during the seasons. But when companies mix the concept of a sport with other genre is fun to play, your normal sports with a touch of variaty. And its a succesful project, they have done it with racing, soccer and other sports. this one definitely looks cool, nice article bunny, im looking forward to this game.

Hmmm i never really play real time strategy games but this might be the turning point!! Seems like it might bring back the young teenage FPS blood seeking teens to sports even!!

never been a sports game fan...maybe this can change that

this looks nothing short of ridiculous......im watching meet the spartans and its stupid ridiculous

Sonyboy69. I respect your opinion, sadly.. I know you're trying to start something. But it's not going to work this time.

I don't like the fantasy theme on this game. It does really look like WoW Football. They should have just remade Mutant League Football, that would have been kick ass

This looks as though it could be fun. Nice review babe :)

Where is the Mutant League Football remake??
This game looks similar, but I like the simplicity of that Genesis game and its premise. Bring back MLFB!!! (oh, and great preview article bunnyXablaze!)

hahaha, very interesting idea.. I'm not a fan of the sports vids, but I would maybe try that.

just ignore sonyboy bunny. that "boy" knows how to get on your nerves.

Awesome. This may be the closest thing we'll get to Mutant League Football.

That is prolly the only football game i'd consider playing, looks fun. ^.^

Who knows, since EA won't get off their ass, and give us Mutant League Football, maybe, this will fill the void for many a gamer wanting a next-gen update for that game.

Actually, although everyone is saying this looks like "WoW-Football", Blood Bowl is based on the Warhammer fantasy universe that has been in existence a lot longer ^^

Warhammer Fantasy started off in 1983, with the first ever version of Blood Bowl itself appearing four years later. Whereas the first Warcraft game (and thus the beginning of Warcraft lore) wasn't until 1994. I know it's only a minor wee point, but I just like to see Games Workshop (Not the Warhammer Fantasy Label, which isn't even a company) getting the attention it deserves, being an avid fan myself ^^

Warcraft has taken a lot of influence from Warhammer (indeed, a lot of the original staff on Warcraft: Orcs and Humans were big Warhammer fans), so it sucks that it gets slightly eclipsed by WoW (WoW being as it is, a social black hole that people find difficult to escape from)

All in all though, great news, this game looks a lot of fun, and along with Warhammer: Age of Reckoning, could prove to be badass ^^

Like old school Mutant League Football, if it has good control or is fun w/ friends I'll so snag this one up.
