Rumors:
-Could there be a PSP2 later this year? Well according to Kotaku the answer could be yes. Several third party developers appear to be confirming these rumors. These developers want their games to be a apart of the PSP2 launch.
-With the Xbox 360 price drop all but officially confirmed(Gamestop has released another add saying it's going to happen) the PS3 might be soon to follow suit. Despite previous statements by Sony to not have a price drop, the word on the street is that it will drop, and maybe even as low is $299, the same as the X360's rumored price drop.
-Bungie has hinted at another Halo game to add to the collection. If the Halo movie ever comes out it is widely speculated that "Halo 4" will follow it's plot and have little to no connection to the trilogy. Another theory is that it will serve as a prequel to the existing games, sort of like Master Chief: The Teen Years.
-Kotaku has found some more rumored tracks for RockBand2. All our great songs but some I am looking forward to are:
Bad Company Shooting Star
Duran Duran Hungry Like the Wolf
Guess Who, The American Woman
Journey Anyway You Want It
Kansas Carry On Wayward Son
Norman Greenbaum Spirit in the Sky
Offspring, The Come Out & Play (Keep 'em Separated)
Steve Miller Band Rock'n Me
Survivor Eye of the Tiger

-Nintendo's GameBoy could be making an appearance on the Virtual Console. Several sources have speculated that the GameBoy could be on the Wii shop channel by the end of the year.
The Buzz:
-The BBC is reporting that the front man for Oasis, Noel Gallagher, blames video games for the violence seen in today's youth. In the UK, knife violence with young people has been on the rise.
"People say it's through violent video games and I guess that's got something to do with it.
-It looks like good ol'Nintendo is in legal trouble again. Nintendo recently lost upwards of $21 million in a patent lawsuit. Now, they seem to be plagued with yet another patent lawsuit. A man from Illinois is suing the big N with being in violation of his patent of a touchscreen video game system that passed in 2005. The DS "phat" came out in 2004. The same man is suing Apple as well. From GamePolitics.com.
Announcements:
-Square Enix has announced what we can only hope will be one of the first of many game's for the iPhone. Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes is a full scale RPG. The game will incorporate your library of songs into the game, using them as "tune troopers". More details.
-Owners of Rockband who are feeling weary of Rockband2 have more reason to jump for joy. All the tracks for RB1 will be made available as a free DLC upon buying RB2.
-Burnout Paradise will soon be getting some new downloadable content. Planes. Criterion games has said that they are looking for a change with the game and planes are just what they needed.
Lolcat:
-Also, my mom sent me this Lawl too.
Comments
Whoa, this is some awesome stuff! PSP2, eh? Hopefully if it is in development, it'll have some sort of phone or camera feature. :)
A Halo prequel sounds great - but isn't that the concept behind Halo Chronicles?
I can't wait for Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band 2 to hit shelves later this year, the only trouble is deciding which I'm going to buy.
Hopefully if any GameBoy games do make it to the Virtual Console the first and second Pokemon generations are included. I'd also like to see The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons, and Super Mario Lands 1,2 & 3.
Great article Nikole!
I hope that psp2 rumor is true. I have been holding off on buying a psp in the hopes that the psp2 rumor is true.

omg journey any way you want it!!!
i love that song
heres to praying it makes it on!
Oh man, once again im late with my commnts in Geek in week (one of my favorite blogs in Gamegirls) *curses the work*
-First of all i will start by the lol cat: LMAO, the best, lol, simply the bast.
-Come on Noel Gallagher, i know you can do better than that, i love oasis (i definitely love oasis), how can you say that Noel, come on, violent video games are dedicated for mature audience that can tell right from wrong, i play violent video games knowing that its JUST A VIODEO GAME, its not real. Video games are fun, they dont do harm. Yes, ther are violent video games out there (wich i am a fan of, i love gory survival horror) but weare mature enough to know that its only a fictional story, no more than that. So i suggest to Noel to think before saying that.
-I have a psp and i love it, i think is too early for a secon gen of handhelds.
-Iphone + RPG's = FTW
-Nintendo lost 21 millions, *thinks* "what would i do with 21 millions?"
-Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon will be a must have, Thank god for final fantasy.
Nice edition of geek in week nikole, keep it coming, i love this section, Scarcrow_zero has spoken.
The PSP2 rumor is intriguing. However with Fire Emblem, Chrono Trigger, and Sonic Chronicles all heading to its predecessor's main competition later this year, the thing would have to come so tricked out it would turn Melinda Gates into an envious bitch to even have a chance of making me put my DS down and tossing away my gouda on launch day.
