So I must admit, there are a ton of songs on that list I can honestly say I've never heard, or at least, I'm not very familiar with, which is great because it shows how much this list caters to such a wide demographic... but... There are a ton of tracks that I know, and love - Modest Mouse: Float On, Smashing Pumpkins: Today, Red Hot Chili Peppers: Give it Away, System of a Down: Chop Suey (gunna be SO much fun to sing, srsly!), The Offspring: Come Out & Play, and The Muffs: Kids in America, to name a few. I'm excited to hear Guns N' Roses new song 'Shacklers Revenge" off the - not yet released - album 'Chinese Democracy'.

Some of the new features include:

  • * Battle of the bands mode - Battle against other bands online!
  • * Character Creator - Customize your characters and give em' rockin' hair do's, bad ass tatts, fashionable accessories, and rock star worthy clothing!
  • * Quickplay mode gets you playing faster - Allows you to make your own set lists, and to group track lists into various categories of preference (genre, era, favs, etc..)
  • * Drum Trainer Mode - Teaches players primary drumming beats and fills
  • * World Tour Mode Online - Blending the original Rock Band Solo Tour and Band World Tour gameplay together with new challenges, venues, cities, opportunity gigs, and more
  • Backwards compatibility with all Rock Band downloadable music content released to date
  • * Feature that enables owners of the Original Rock Band to export most Rock Band songs and 'upgrade' them onto to Rock Band 2

Rock Band 2 will support third party instruments and accessories. Here's a list of third party instruments, and changes to the originals:

  • * Drum set is now wireless, has quieter pads, and a metal petal
  • * Fender Stratocaster Controller adds a reinforced strum bar, quieter buttons, wireless functionality and a 'built in calibration tool that automatically sets your AV setup to an ideal setting'
  • * Fender Bass Controller - Finally the bass player gets their own unique bass guitar controller! Complete with a split strum bar to 'replicate finger-bass style picking' (AWESOME)
  • * Full-sized Squire Stratocaster Guitar Controller - A controller built into an actual Squire Stratocaster body (EVEN MORE AWESOME!)
  • Getting back to the track list... What are your thoughts on the song choices? Is it everything you wanted and more? Or is it two thumbs way down? ...What songs would you absolutely LOVE to see on a Rock Band track list, and why?

    Comments

eeek, so excited. I can't wait to play Spirit in the Sky. That song always reminds of me Angel games(MLB). Great Post.

OMG, thanks for the list, great bands and great songs, it has music diversity, thats awesome, can wait, i just can wait, excellent work femme.

hmm... I kinda wish I knew some more of those songs, but a lot of them are really good like everlong, any way you want it, the middle, and especially alive... and is that "eye of the tiger" the one I'm thinking of?

Please let this mean that Axl is ready to release Chinese Democracy...

That is a pretty badass track list.

    FATALITY

Linkin Park is on the list!

Not the Linkin Park song I hoped would debut in Rock Band. "No More Sorrow" is a perfect fit for Rock Band.

Yep, definitely buying this instead of Guitar Hero, lol. Great article Femme.

its times like these im glad my buddy forced me into spliting the costs of rock band as opposed to me just buying guitar hero. I can't wait... too many to look forward to mastering

Chop Suey and Battery are almost worth the the 60 bucks on there own.

DOWN WITH THE MOTHER F**KING SICKNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! R U SRSLY FKN KIDDIN MEH? I R JUST CRAPPED MAH E-PANTS.

No wait.... Those were my real pants

i was listening to spirit in the sky and thought it would make a great rockband song, and now it will
