Zero Punctuation Does Age of Conan

To be fair, I got alot of flak when I posted the Zero Punctuation review of Metal Gear Solid 4, alot of fanboys took time out of their lives on the assumption I gave two flying *censored* to send me hate messages. But stick with me, because I am going somewhere with this one, somewhere you will like. Well, if you've been on the site long enough you know I raved about Age of Conan like Funcom was paying me secret wages to do so. Conan and I were lovers for 43 long levels and even though we are separated now, I still care for him. Yahtzee kindly reviewed Age of Conan this week for Zero Punctuation, and I thought I'd post it for those of you who thought posting the MGS4 review was unfair... or if you're like me and would gladly have this man's illegitimate babies.

And for the record, I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Overall, he makes alot of really strong points about the game. However, as he said, the game is simply unpolished. Hopefully in the next several months AOC players will witness great changes with the world of Hyboria. By this time next year, providing the game doesn't go tits-up like Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, it should really be coming into it's own. I personally look forward to rejoining the game when it promises more post 40 content. But for now, the gameplay is a little shallow to me: all the good gameplay elements are there, they simply have to be enhanced and refined. I am a big believer an MMORPG should come with a manual several inches thick... it's the complexity that I and many other players enjoy mastering. For now though, Conan's Strategy Guide is only about half an inch, and that's just not big enough for me. *wink*

Have you tried Age of Conan? Do you want to? DO you think game developers try too hard to emulate WOW for the sucess?

I love Yahtzee's reviews. He really does make some valid points. I wish he'd do a review of Rock Band, although I suppose it's probably already too late. Maybe Rock Band 2?

i find yahtzee to be a relatively fair critic, no matter what game he is reviewing.... people just get bent out of shape when a game they like (or one they've fooled themselves into thinking they like) is criticized by someone.... people need to lighten up and just enjoy the British potty mouth......

he he, i lol´ed at the review, although most critics like to do funny videos trying to bash a game and only focus on the bad side of the game, why dont they also add the good side on the review, cool blog.

@No_Superman and diablo: He also did nice reviews of Bioshock and Psychonauts.

AoC lacks end game content. They need to get that fixed and then they'll be ok. In my opinion of course. Excellent landscapes, I can look off into the endless horizon for hours. =0)

I haven't got to play this yet, i am wondering if i can get away from FFXI long enough to do so. Thanks for the review post Navie, this guy always cracks me up.
