All aboard the Trophy train!

Jul. 25 12:12 PM by Heather

So I finally gave in and downloaded Super Stardust HD. I had been pretty curious about getting some Trophies since the update at the beginning of this month. I just started playing around with Super Stardust and it is proving to be addictive and utterly infuriating. Hopefully I'll have some uber trophies soon or a broken controller due to fits of rage.

It seems the Trophy fad has caught on in the past month with many players already sporting their Platinum Trophies. Unlike Microsoft's similar feature, Achievements, there is no overall gamerscore with Trophies. The neat feature about Trophies is you can view all your friends Trophies and even compare their completion with yours. So, if you're like me you look pretty pathetic!

With just one game supporting them, that most people paid for and downloaded just to earn some Trophies, it is proving to be a great move on Sony's part. I know I will want my friends to see how fail I am once more games with Trophies come out.

So far the list of games coming soon that will have Trophies is rather short but hopefully developers will see the growing need. The first games to offer the Trophies will be BUZZ! Quiz TV, LittleBigPlanet, Pixel Junk Eden, PAIN, Resistance 2, Warhawk, MotorStorm Pacific Rift, SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation, and NBA 09.

I am a little disappointed that the upcoming Soul Calibur IV will not feature Trophies... yet. There really are a ton of titles that I would love to see Trophies on so hopefully some of the games already will eventually get a Trophy update, which would be great incentive to play through again or even finish titles you have collecting dust. Well, I'm crossing my fingers for now.

I am pretty sure that sooner or later, most games will get updates adding trophies. I never cared for the gamerscore as far as bragging rights go. It's just a silly score anyway.

What I do like about the gamerscore is the fact that it gives me a couple more reasons to keep on playing the games I buy. It just gives me some more goals to "achieve". If I get bored with it, I just move on but it does add a bit of replayability as far as I am concerned.

I believe that the same will be true about trophies. IT will be at least an incentive to play just a little more to get that elusive trophy.

I am soon going to download Super Stardust also

Too bad Super Stardust was not one of the summer sale games on the PSN. I downloaded Pixeljunk Monsters today for five bucks, I was glad that went down.

I thought uncharted was going to get an update as well. I play uncharted a lot so I'm just gonna wait. I'll play pixel junk eden to. I really don't get the game, but its fun lol

45 trophies?! i have 2 :D :(

or... that isnt yours is it lol.

i got burnout paradise, which is supposed to support trophies soon. i was debating on getting it before, but this gave me that push to get it. im glad i did, it really is a great game.

GO Speed Racer! GO Speed Racer!

45 trophies/ level 5??????? good LAWD!!!! i dont care too much about the trophies business or gamerscore business. when Warhawk gets them, it just gets them (for me). dont think ill care too much about them till Home hits and i can put them on 3D display.

i think thats an image from sony when they first came out because:

1) why would her personal message be "Hello!"
2) SSHD doesnt have that many

Uncharted will be receiving a patch on August 22nd (a ways away) for Trophy support as well. I plan on unlocking everything in Uncharted, specially since i have almost everything in Uncharted already.

hmmm, Heather, you should talk to God120. That guy is a trophy whore. You guys would be perfect.
